Partner George Freeman Speaks at SIFMA Regional Conference

George C. Freeman, III, chairman of Barrasso Usdin’s securities litigation and regulation practice, served as a panelist at the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) Compliance & Legal Society Regional Seminar held on September 30, 2013 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

George’s panel focused on two topics: “How to Pick an Arbitration Panel” and “Vacatur of Arbitration Awards.” The issues the panel addressed included:

• Strategies for the initial selection of panels

• Strategies for dealing with “problem” arbitrators

• Recent development in vacatur jurisprudence

• Strategies for pursuing vacaturs

Joining George on the panel were Jay Rosen of Capital Forensics, Inc., A. Inge Selden, III, of Maynard Cooper & Gale, and Shepherd D. Tate of Bass Berry & Sims. James Ritt, General Counsel of Sterne Agee, served as the moderator.
