Miles Local counsel who view their role as limited are reminded in this article that local counsel assignments may carry with them broader responsibilities and duties than one might think. The article examines the duties of local counsel to their clients through a review of the American Bar Association Model Rules and an examination of several cases, concluding that courts may view such duties expansively, unless they are appropriately limited with informed consent from the client.
