Barrasso Usdin Wins High-Stakes Environmental Trial
This summer, Barrasso Usdin obtained a total defense judgment on behalf of a natural gas pipeline company in an environmental breach-of-contract case brought by a local landowner alleging property damage and land loss stemming from a pipeline canal. After six days of a jury trial, based on evidence firm attorneys elicited from plaintiff’s witnesses on cross-examination, the presiding judge granted Barrasso’s motion to dismiss with prejudice all the plaintiff’s claims as untimely. The district court also rejected the plaintiff’s challenges to the court’s ruling by denying a motion for new trial last week. Lorcan Connick briefed and argued the winning motion mid-trial.
