Barrasso Usdin Represents Amici in Successful Fifth Circuit Appeal Defending Denial of Class Certification

(Client: Insurance Client)

The Fifth Circuit affirmed a ruling denying class certification against a purported class of Louisiana GEICO insurance holders, who alleged that the valuation system GEICO used to pay total loss automobile accidents violated Louisiana state law.  At the Fifth Circuit, Barrasso Usdin represented the American Property Casualty Insurance Association and the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies as Amici Curiae in support of GEICO and to argue that the legislative history of the Louisiana statute at issue supported the District Court’s denial of class certification.

Judy Barrasso, Christine Calogero, and Taylor Gamm handled the matter.
